Art/Cultural Immersion ~ The distinctive and elegant arts of Chinese calligraphy and painting have in recent years taken a prominent place in the international art world.  Chinese ink painting and writing dates back for millennia and differs from Western watercolors.  It is basically black and white, depending on subtle shading and suggestion rather than overt statement, resulting in a sensitive depiction of nature with simplicity and restraint.  Janice will introduce the use of traditional hand ink making using ink stick and ink stone.  She will help you develop painting techniques in a series of exercises using traditional as well as modern subjects.  Develop a basic understanding of Chinese calligraphy.  Special Hsuan paper will be used. This interesting and rare program is suitable for anyone with or without previous drawing experience.

Chinese Ink Writing Techniques ~ Discover how fun and simple it is to make ink and learn the basic strokes that creates the Chinese character.  This hands-on workshop takes you back to the evolution of the Chinese character. 

Chinese Ink Drawing/Watercolour ~ Learn all about the balance of colour, techniques in paper preparation, and the application of some traditional as well as modern styles of ink drawing.  Learn nature, scenic and animal painting.
