Historic St. James.  This Norman gothic building, now a studio offering hands~on learning experiences of many unique and traditional forms of fine arts.  Also available are our popular in-class workshops for schools.

Painting ~ creative canvas painting with acrylic pigments to reflect thoughts, ideas and feelings

                ~ techniques in water based pigment applications, washes, texturing

Drawing ~ portraiture:  learn basic anatomy & techniques which simplify the process of drawing the face

                 ~ lines & contour:  creative lines, expressive lines, converging images, single line drawings

                 ~ image within image drawing:  a gathering of ideas and imagery on paper, mixed media

                 ~ charcoal and pastel study:  explore its traditional context and contemporary approach

                 ~ creative expressions:  create images that have a sense of mystery with graphite, conté, pastel

                    oil sticks

                 ~ life drawing:  simplify the understanding of pose and anatomy, learn to draw from a model

Sculpting ~ art of hypertufa: learn to use natural materials from the earth to create one-of-a-kind vessels with an "aged look of stone"

each workshop is approximately 2 hours long.  Art supplies/equipment included.  Cost is $8 per student for studio workshops and $9 per student for in school workshops.   Workshops are custom catered for school class rooms and organizations with children ages 4 ~ 17 and adults.  Available for booking Monday ~ Friday.  For groups of 15 or less participants the base cost per workshop is $120 for an in-studio lesson and $135 for in-school lesson.
